Tyger - Guilherme Marcondes

May

“Tyger” is a short film by Guilherme Marcondes.

Every year, Cultura Inglesa funds a few cultural projects for their festival. This project was one of the three selected for 2006.

It is stellar. The illustrations, photography/cinematography, motion, music, everything.

“In 1982 Tron was one of the first films to incorporate computer generated graphics. Over the years Tron has achieved an almost cult status amongst computer gamers around the world. The Stan Smith Comfort shows Tron himself on the tongue and his enemy the Master Control Programmer on the footbed. Black-turquoise.”

UNTYING SPACE-TIME

The Khronos Projector is an interactive-art installation allowing people to explore pre-recorded movie content in an entirely new way. A classic video-tape allows a simple control of the reproducing process (stop, backward, forward, and elementary control on the reproduction speed). Modern digital players add little more than the possibility to perform random temporal jumps between image frames.

e3 pillaging and possibly raping

May06

For those of you that don’t know, once a year everyone within the game industry gets together for three days. Electronic Entertainment Expo is just around the corner, my friends. Three glorious days of seeing the newest of the new, the things all sixteen year-olds would piss themselves to see but can’t because it’s industry only and 18+. The last year I went was 2004 and I could only be up there for a day, but that didn’t stop me from seeing everything (I did miss out on the matrix online beta sign up, but no sweat off my nerdy back, shit was suppose to be terrible anyways). There’s this unpublished secret of E3, that all the nerds know. FACT: You can walk out with at least a three week wardrobe, posters to fill your mothers basement, and squishy toys, pens, and random trinkets to show how 1337 you really are to all four of your friends.

Do people that work in your IT department wear video game or video game company shirts to work every day and seem like they don’t have anything else to wear? It’s because they don’t actually buy clothes, they just wait for the three days of pillaging. When the doors open nerds will run in to be the first to grab stuff, it’s out of control, I once saw two 35+ year old, fat, and balding white dudes push each other… Continue Reading

San Diego… not so bad after all.

May02

Do you ever listen to a song, or a band for that matter, and automatically associate moments or feelings in your life to it/them? Aural nostalgia? This happens way too frequently; sometimes I’ll take a song and attach it to a goal or ambition rather than a memory. For instance, anything by Minus The Bear will translate to “living out the rest of my life sailing, drinking amazing beers, playing golf and tennis during the summer/fall and reading, writing, and entertaining in the winter/spring up in the Pacific Northwest“. Not that it’s going to happen anytime soon, because I’ve started to actually like San Diego finally. However, SD hasn’t earned a song/band, yet. Certain neighborhoods, resturants, cafes, and people make it worth while. I’m not the beach life style stereotype, and having 300+ days of nothing but blue skies totally destroys me, but it’s far better than freezing rain, black ice, and other things to make it easy to stay inside rather than enjoy everything a city has to offer.

I love the harbor and driving on the coast on a brilliant day, going to the beach at night, having bonfires and such… but it’s hardly Karate Kid (I know it’s based in LA, but you get what I mean). Most beach areas down here attract metric ass-tons of douches (with the exception of La Jolla, Del Mar, and some beaches in Carlsbad), tons of shitty resturants, and over-priced $1,300 studio apartments the size of my closet. If you were really interested in… Continue Reading

Congrats to all rebooters

May01

Today is May 1st, and that’s the end point of all Rebooting, and time for voting. Whether your interest peaks at CSS or goes to flash, make sure you vote either way. There’s a lot of good stuff this year and it should be great to see who comes out on top. The previous years have been okay, with the exception of the 2004 winner… which was rather excellent. I’ll dig around and see if I can’t find it. It seems a lot of people this year are doing a lot of things just the same as everyone else, and design isn’t about consistancy, haha. INOVATION, get to it.

Even giants reboot, but it’s about time. It’s been the same since he was all about PS.
